Value For
Money
"It is unwise to pay
too much, but it is worse to pay too little. When you pay
too much you lose a little money — that is all. When you
pay too little you sometimes lose everything because the
thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was
bought to do ... If you deal with the lowest bidder, it
is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you
do that you will have enough to pay for something
better." John
Ruskin
(1819-1900)
Here at
EveryMan Consulting our mission statement is "To provide
affordable and effective business advice and support for
the Small to Medium Enterprise sector." The two key
words are affordable and effective.
Value for money is vital for
running an efficient, profitable business. Hiring
specialists and other people can be a high risk, high
cost and potentially low gain activity. Most small
businesses cannot afford to pay for the managers and
specialists they need and are forced to do
without them. It may be cheaper to do it this
way, but it is not effective. It throws everything
back on a few people, or even one person! The
effectiveness is low in such circumstances,
because no-one can be an expert in
everything, so the capacity of the business is held
down to the capacity of one person. This is not good value
for money.
There is another
way. The Business Support Programme
(BSP) offers terrific value for money, by
utilising the power of a network of senior experts from
all fields of business. It offers a 'virtual board'
without the associated cost of employment. There are no
NI contributions, no sick or holiday pay, car, pension,
insurance or other costs. The agreed investment into
the BSP is spread out and paid on an
affordable monthly basis. During the period of the
programme, many areas of business activity are
looked at to reduce costs, usually resulting in
significant savings, sometimes greater than the original
investment. Additionally, the full cost is an allowable
tax deductible expense for the
company. The overall
outlay is minimal, the returns are significant and the
risk is low.
